Ms. Fields was killed when the driver of a vehicle in which she and two other women lost control of her vehicle on the busy thoroughfare through Port Arthur. The gathering released 51 balloons, the age Ms. Fields would have been on her birthday one day later. The memorial was done not only in remembrance of Ms. Fields, but also as a means of raising community awareness to the problem of drunk driving. Evening News photo by KIM BRENT Firefighters extinguish a blaze on a large propane tank during a propane fire training session held behind the Monroe Charter Township Hall Thursday night. Approximately 10 departments from Monroe County and surrounding counties took part in the class, which was put on by the Michigan Propane Gas Association's Emergency Response Team, and included classroom training followed by live burn scenarios. Firefighters battled blazes ranging from small propane-fueled grills to a large storage tank, which sent a fire ball 70 or more feet into the sky.

Rick Waynick, or "Rollover Rick" as he is known among the regulars who fish at Rollover Pass in the Bolivar Peninsula, gets in some late day fishing before sundown Wednesday. Waynick has been fishing at the popular waterway between the Gulf and East Bay for 30 years and has a number of reasons why he believes the pass should remain open. The Galveston County Commissioners Court recently voted to close Rollover Pass, which is part of the land owned by the Galveston Rod, Reel, and Gun Club.
